Wilderness Fishing:
Ponds & Rivers

  • Remote Trout Ponds: We specialize in guiding canoe and kayak trips to secluded kettle ponds like Pineo, Spectacle, and the Pike Brook Ponds. These spring-fed basins offer pristine habitat for brook trout and a level of solitude you won't find on the main roads.

  • Wilderness Rivers: Join us for a journey down the meandering reaches of the Narraguagus River, Pleasant River, or the hidden channels of Bog Brook Flowage. Whether you are casting for acrobatic Brook Trout or the aggressive "water wolves" - Chain Pickerel - our trips are tailored to the rhythm of the river.

Our open-water seasons are dedicated to the pursuit of native and wild trout in the "Jewel Box" of the Downeast interior.

Winter in the Backcountry:

Snowmobile Ice Fishing

  • Full-Service Comfort: We handle the transportation, drilling, and gear. You simply focus on the flag.

  • The Remote Advantage: By traveling deep into the backcountry via snowmobile, we access high-quality trout waters that see very little winter pressure, offering you a better chance at a "trophy" squaretail through the ice.

When the landscape freezes, the adventure doesn't stop. We offer specialized ice fishing expeditions with snowmobile access to remote trout ponds that are otherwise unreachable in the winter months.

TRIP DETAILS

The Setting

Williams Pond is a place where time slows down. Surrounded by boggy tributaries and dense Maine timber, this spring-fed pond maintains the cool, high-quality water that wild trout crave. Because of its remote location - accessed via the rugged Beddington CCC roads— - you are more likely to share the water with a resident Moose or a calling Loon than another boat.

The Challenge & Reward

While the pond is known for its beautiful "squaretails," it also plays home to Chain Pickerel, adding an element of surprise to every cast.

  • The Morning Calm: Launch your canoe into the mist to target Brook Trout as they rise for an early hatch.

  • The Evening Rise: As the sun sets over the Narra-guagus River drainage, the pond’s surface comes alive, offering perfect conditions for dry fly enthusiasts or light-tackle anglers.

  • Pristine Quality: Despite the competition from pickerel, the water quality here is exceptional, supporting a healthy population of 10- to 16-inch trout that are as vibrant as the landscape itself.

Trip Highlights

  • Guided Navigation: We handle the complex "Airline" (Route 9) backroads and the final trek to ensure you spend your time fishing, not searching.

  • Native Pursuit: Focus on wild Brook Trout in a setting that feels like a private wilderness.

  • Canoe & Kayak Ease: Our stable, lightweight watercraft are perfectly suited for navigating the pond’s lily-padded inlets and deep spring holes.
